Step back in time and indulge in a truly unique experience. On Thursday 5 June, we’re hosting an Afternoon Tea Through Time, an event where history and elegance come together in support of a fantastic cause.
To begin, enjoy a prosecco reception, kindly sponsored by our friends at Tanners Wines. Then, settle in for a feast of freshly made finger sandwiches, delicate cakes, and traditional scones served with jam and clotted cream – the perfect way to experience the charm of afternoon tea.
By attending, you’ll be helping us raise much-needed funds for a new accessible vehicle for Blists Hill Victorian Town. This will allow our visitors with mobility issues to explore and fully enjoy all that the museum has to offer, ensuring that everyone can experience the rich history we cherish.
Throughout the afternoon, you’ll have the opportunity to view original 1800s costumes, including pieces that would have been worn during afternoon tea in Victorian Britain. Our talented Costume Project team have also created beautiful replica outfits, including a variety of hats, all of which will be on display and available for you to try on – perfect for a memorable photo opportunity!
Kyla Hislop, our Interpretation Curator, will be sharing an insightful talk on how Victorians accessorised their outfits with stunning hats and jewellery, some of which will also be on display for you to explore.
There will also be plenty of opportunities to help us raise funds throughout the event. Don’t miss your chance to take part in our exciting raffle, where you could win some fantastic prizes while supporting us.
This event is just one of the many ways we’re working to improve accessibility at our museums. We’re committed to ensuring everyone can enjoy the experience, and your participation makes a huge difference. Find out more about our accessibility efforts here.
We look forward to welcoming you to an afternoon of food, drink, history and fundraising.
